PeerIndex gathers and analyses publicly available data to create a picture of a person's authority and activity on a particular topic. Using this data, the platform generates a trust rating from 1 – 100, assessing people's 'social capital'– their relationships, authority, trust and standing by looking at their online social behaviour and offline activities.
In a world where social media has given everyone a voice, there is a need to understand which voices are the ones we should be listening to. PeerIndex creates this trust barometer to establish the authenticity of people's personal and professional reputations online.
Currently, PeerIndex scans activity on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and blogs, with plans to add both publically available and private data sets in the near future. PeerIndex has indexed seven million of the most active and connected people on Twitter.
For consumers, PeerIndex solves the problem of personal brand management by providing clear, comparable metrics describing a person's online stature and influence. And for businesses, PeerIndex can identify, segment, reach and reward these consumers, allowing businesses to build special offerings, services or discounts to specific new, behavioural segments of consumers.
PeerIndex operates a platform which examines activity across Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and blogs. The PeerIndex algorithm operates by analysing shared information. It records the speed and quantity by which information on a specific topic is shared, using this data to generate a ranking.
PeerIndex also takes into account the relationships built on various social media platforms. The impact of those relationships also affects our authority, which is affirmed when the content you share is approved - i.e. Retweeted or commented on, by someone else that is deemed an authority on the subject.
Through PeerIndex, it is also possible to profile and rank communities through an enterprise product. Communities themselves can also be created around a particular topic, and when large enough, PeerIndex can rank individual members to identify the most authoritative. This data provides businesses with a broader understanding of their audiences to ultimately crate a more effective platform for engagement.
