oneDrum is a simple desktop application that enables real-time document collaboration, initially for MS Office. The peer-to-peer collaboration platform provides users with the ability to share files and edit documents simultaneously without the need to save or reopen.

oneDrum is designed for businesses without an IT department, and anyone that shares files and works on documents with others.

oneDrum's beta platform is free to use and currently works with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (Word is in the next release). The first public version is due to launch in April 2011 and an Application Programming Interface (API) is scheduled for September that will enable developers to make any web or desktop document collaborative.

Product Description

oneDrum converts MS Office for Windows into a real-time, collaborative environment. The desktop application requires no servers, administration or plug ins. oneDrum enables users to:

  • See where others are working and what they are changing
  • Receive notifications when new versions are opened or saved
  • In-document chat facility
  • View active authors

    Prior to joining the startup world, Jasper Westaway segued from a masters in artificial intelligence into financial services, designing and building trading systems for UBS and then Reuters. Subsequently, he was part of the founding team at Enigmatec (purchased by iWave), a leading vendor of data centre automation software, where he ran product management and then professional services.

    In 2008, he founded oneDrum with John Boyle (CTO), to build the collaboration platform they actually wanted to use. oneDrum is in beta and will launch publicly in April 2011.

    Jasper lives in Devon with his partner and two children.
